C-I Drugs
A
schedule 1 drugs
- substances is this category have no current accepted medical use in the US
- “street drugs”
- ex) heroin, marijuana, and ecstasy

C-II Drugs
A
schedule 2 drugs/
- have a high potential for abuse, which may lead to severe psychological/physical dependence
- pain medications that are C-II, are narcotics
- ex) norco, percocet, aderall

C-III Drugs
A
schedule 3 drugs/
- have potential for abuse and may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence
- the body gets sick without it and will hurt you physically but also can be mental so you cannot stop thinking about the medication
- anything with codeine

C-IV Drugs
A
schedule 4 drugs/
- low potential for abuse (DEA) these can be very addictive (PJ)
- these are usually antianxiety or sleeping aids
- benzodiazepine is also a C-IV drug
- ex) ambien/zolpidem

A
schedule 5 drugs/
- substances in this schedule have a low abuse rate (low potential for abuse)
- known as regular maintenance drug
- ex) cholesterol medication, inhalers, and antidepressants
