Anticoagulant
Drugs used to inhibit the clotting of blood
Antiarrhytmic
Cardiovascular drugs which helps restore heart rhythm to a regular cycle
Antianginal agents
Any drug used to treat angina, a symptom of ischemic heart disease. Angina is a feeling of tightness, heaviness or pain in the chest caused by lack of oxygen in the muscular wall of the heart
Ace inhibitor
Lower BP by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme and are useful in treating CHF. As well as preventing kidney damage in hypertensive or diabetic people
Calcium Channel Blockers
Lower BP by blocking calcium and as a result relax the heart muscles and the muscles of the blood vessel walls
Vasodilators
Lower BP by relaxing the blood vessel wall
Cardiotonics
Drugs which promotes the muscle tone or contractility of the heart
Diuretics
Aka- hypertensives
Drugs which increase the production of urine which reduces the volume of fluid in the body and aids in lowering the PT’s BP
Beta Blockers
Lower BP by decreasing the heart rate through blocking the absorption of adrenalin
