A transient loss of consciousness due to a global cerebral hypoperfusion characterized by rapid onset and short duration, as well as spontaneous complete recovery

A
Severe heart rhythm disturbances

What are the three principle mechanisms that can cause a decrease in cardiac output?
A
- Primary heart disease (structural or electrical)
- Reflex mediated bradycardia or hypotension
- Decrease in venous return due to blood loss or redistribution of blood volume (orthostatic hypotension)
