Q

What is the stationary hangback

A

This is the distance you stop from the rear of the vehicle in front of you
You should position your vehicle so that you can see the tyre of the vehicle in front of you in contact with the road surface

Q

Whats are the 3 rules of braking

A

Brake only when travelling straight, not in bend or when skidding. This means must brake in plenty of time for whatever hazard you are approaching

Let your brake pressure vary with the condition of the road surface. Choose a coarse, firm and dry section of road for a firm braking, and ease off the pedal pressure fro a loose or slippery surface. Call for continued observation of road surface conditions.

When descending a steep winding hill, maintain firm braking on straight stretches and brake as lightly as possible in bends, or corner. Remember the value of engaging a lower gear at an early stage in descent.

17
Q

What are the 4 causes for fatigue?

A

Lack of quality sleep
Time of the day
Length of time performing the task
Sleeping disorders such as sleep apnea

18
Q

You are required to drive on an unsealed road. What vehicle would you use?

19
Q

What are the indicators of fatigue?

A

Constant ywning
Drifting over lanes
Sore eyes
Trouble keeping head upright
Delayed reactions
Daydreaming
Difficulty remembering driving the last few kms
Variation in driving speed

20
Q

What checks must you conduct on your vehicle before using is on a shift

A

22 point check

21
Q

At completion of the checks the information must be written in your notebook

22
Q

Red mist is the term used to describe the state of mind of drivers who are so determined to achieve an objective, that they are no longer capable of realistically assessing driving tasks. Their minds are not on the driving but on some other goal, they have become emotionally and physiologically caught up in the action taking place

23
Q

before driving on unsealed roads, 4 wd is engaged. This is to ensure the safety of members and to prevent loss of control. True or false
