Why keep your fire truck clean?
Permitting apparatus to become soiled with dirt,oil,and road grime damages public relations because citizens may feel their investment is not being properly protected. Promotes a longer vehicle life
What is the purpose of preventive maintenance?
Preventive maintenance ensures apparatus reliability,reduces the frequency and cost of repairs, and lessens out of service time.
When should driver operators begin the vehicle inspection?
When arriving in the morning for shift. When first walking up to and observing the truck.
How and when should your truck inspection be done?
First thing in the morning before shift. The same systematic way each time. Walk around inspection starting at drivers door.
Once the vehicle is running what is the first thing u check?
Ensure that all of the gauges on the dashboard show the apparatus to be functioning in the normal operating range.
Why is the positioning of first arriving pumper so important?
It sets up all other arriving apparatus for success.
When can you park fire apparatus on a railroad tracks?
Never position apparatus on the railroad tracks.
