Method

A
  • Place warm wax in well
  • Add wax by melting outer layer of previous wax while adding new wax
  • After filling well, use warm instrument to go around outer edge to remove bubbles adjacent to stone
  • Develop flat surface (even with stone)
  • Polishing

Polishing

A

o Melt superficial layer with flame of Hanau alcohol torch across surface (let cool)
o Used soft bristled toothbrush to smooth fine bumps from flaming wax (light flaming generally does not melt the wax in grooves), toothbrush also helps clean and smooth grooves
o Smooth with paper towel
o Polish with nylon stocking
o Liquid soap on cotton roll (wash off and dry with air syringe)
