What is a contour drawing?
a drawing which involves using a line to outline an object or person. They can be done very quickly with one line and without much detail.
What is another name for contour drawings?
pure line drawings
Differentiate a line drawing from a tone drawing
A line drawing is made up of lines and marks but does not include any shading.
A tone drawing includes areas of light and dark often created through shading.
What is the purpose of shading?
helps objects appear more three dimensional by giving them the illusion of depth and form.

What is the name given to ‘soft’ pencils that give a smooth dark mark?

What is the name given to a “hard” pencil that gives a light mark?

What is the most useful pencil for sketching and why?
2B pencils, they are soft so you don’t have to press too heavily with it to make a mark and it can be easily erased.
What is the difference between HB pencils and F pencils?
The F pencil is slightly harder than nan HB pencil and it can stay sharp for a longer period of use.
