The performer
Actor
Part of the stage which projects into the auditorium
Apron
The people watching the performance
Audience
The set movements for the actors on stage
Blocking
The turning point in the action of the play
Climax
When suspense or tension builds between characters (or within the one character)
Conflict
The clothing an actor wears on stage
Costume
Conversations between two or more people
Dialogue
The person who directs the action and guides the actors’ performances
Director
The front of the performance space
Downstage
The room backstage where the actors wait before coming onstage
Green Room
When you make up a scene as you go along
Improvisation
A speech for a single actor
Monologue
The story of a play
Plot
To supply the actor with the correct dialogue when they forget their line
Prompt
An article or object used by an actor
Prop
The part of the play which shows the solving of the conflict
Resolution
The literal place of the action, ie. on the stage
Set
The place where the action of the play occurs
Setting
The actor’s performance space
Stage
The person in charge behind the curtain
Stage manager
The main idea running through the play
Theme
The back of the performance space
Upstage
The areas at the side of the stage
