Soliloquy
Speech given by one character to another character or a group of characters.
Monologue
A private remark given to another character or the audience.
Aside
Character character that connects scenes or represents feelings of the entire community
Chorus
Instructions about the settings,costumes, writing, and objects on the stage
Stage directions
The downfall or end of the protagonist.
Tragedy
A very important person in which his flawed behavior causes his downfall
Tragic hero
The flaw within the character the causes his downfall.
Tragic flaw
A character scene that relieves tension.
Comic relief
Involves problems among lovers.
Romantic comedy
Satirizes social customs of society.
Comedy of manners
when a speaker breaks off from addressing one party and instead addresses a third party. This third party may be an individual, either present or absent in the room.
Apostrophe
are two-dimensional in that they are relatively uncomplicated and do not change throughout the course of a work.
Flat character
are complex and undergo development, sometimes sufficiently to surprise the reader.
Round character
an apparition or double of a living person
