How water moves through the drainage basin
-water that runs overland is called surface runoff
-some rain soaks into the ground. This is called infiltration
-rain that soaks into the ground flows sideways through the soil. This is called throughflow
-the water fills the pores and cracks in the rock. This is called groundwater
-surface runoff, through flow and groundwater feed the river
-impermeable rock won’t let water pass through it.
