Dr Kody Palmer questions Flashcards
State your name for the court
Kody Palmer. P-A-L-M-E-R
What is your occupation?
I am a private consulting forensic investigator.
What is your educational background?
I received my undergraduate degree in forensic science from Texas A&M and my medical degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I completed a 6 year residency in forensic pathology at Las Vegas General Hospital.
What are your medical qualifications?
I passed examinations to become a licensed pathologist. I worked as a deputy forensic investigator until 2014.
What is your current employment?
I run my own forensic investigation consulting group. I also stay up to date with all upcoming forensic techniques through many supplementary courses
What were you asked to do in this case?
I examined the toxicology reports conducted by Dr. Forrest and found many inconsistencies with my professional opinion
What were you asked to do in this case?
I examined the toxicology reports conducted by Dr. Forrest and found many inconsistencies with my professional opinion
Can you describe some of those differences?
A big difference was with the doxylamine. The amount of doxylamine that was found in their bloodstream suggests that Alexander was given a smaller dose followed by a larger dose, which is opposite of Forrest’s opinion.
How would you account for that difference in opinion?
Well the most logical way for this to have happened is that Alexander administered both doses themselves.
Do you see any other logical way for 160 NanoGrams/Milliliter of the drug to remain in the bloodstream at 4:45 PM?
I really don’t see any other way this could have happened. Neither I, or Dr Forrest can even affirm they had doxylamine in 2 separate doses.
Are there any side effects of this medication?
Extreme grogginess is normal, however Incoherence and memory confusion are more severe and common in people I’ve studied under doxylamine and other cold medications.
Did you find any other cold medications in Alexander’s system?
Yes, I found trace amounts of Dextromethorphan, which causes intense hallucinations. Even in small doses, it is very powerful.
What does that mean in regards to this case?
This medication also causes extremely vivid dreams which people frequently mistake to be real. I think under this amount of medication. Alexander’s testimony is extremely unreliable.
Any other differences in opinion?
The docking rope. Dr. Forrest says that it would take “houdini-like skill” for someone to get themselves out of a slipknot, however it is completely possible for someone to tie themselves in a slipknot, and to get out, they really just pull on the loose end
Do you believe, in your professional opinion that Alexander could have tied themselves up?
Yes, easily.
Any other disagreements?
The tire tracks as well. I agree that Golds tire has a pebble in it, however, it is ridiculous to pin this act on him with that fact. Emerald Bend has so many unpaved roads that it is likely for most tires to have pebbles in them.
Is the pebble a significant factor in the tire track?
If there were more than one mark, I would say yes, but only one pebble mark was identified by Dr Forrest. If it were truly Logan Gold’s car, BECAUSE tires rotate, there would have been multiple pebble marks in the tire track.
Were there any other significant factors with the tire marks?
The tire tread doesn’t match the tread of Logan’s car. I know it sounds insignificant, but Logan’s tires are 1/32 of an inch larger than the tracks at 1335 Lakeside Drive
What does that suggest?
The two tires would make majorly different tread marks. The tracks deputy kim found do not belong to Logan Gold.
Final question Dr. Palmer, how confident are you in Alexander’s version of this statement?
Not at all. I question if there was even a kidnapping at all. Due to the drugs left in his system, his statement is clearly unreliable. There is also no definitive evidence to connect Logan Gold to the alleged kidnapping of Taylor Alexander at all.
