AIR BRAKE CHECK

PROCEDURE

A
  1. Air Leakage Test (Seat Belt is Mandatory- close front door)
*With the air pressure built up to the governor cutoff (120-140PSI), the engine will be SHUT OFF.
*Release the parking brake. (This is a must or you will fail. Wait until the air pressure needles stop moving.)
*Fully apply the foot brake. Hold the foot brake or 1 minute.
*Check air gauge to see if the air pressure drops more than 3 PSI in 1 minute.
  2. Spring Brake Test (Parking brake valve)
*ignition ON engine OFF. (wait until the air pressure needles stop moving)
*Begin fanning/pumping the brake pedal until approximately 20-45 PSI. The Parking brake will pop-out.
  3. Low Warning Light Test
*(start the engine and point to the low warning light)
*The low warning light will come on at 80 PSI

(Remove chocks and build air pressure up to the governor cutoff 120-140PSI- reapply seatbelt.)

  1. Parking Brake Test-
*with the parking brake set, put the gear selector into Drive.
    *Give one-quarter throttle and release
  2. Service Brake Test-
