How should hyperkalemia be managed?
Calcium gluconate: 10-30ml at 10% IV, given over 5-10 mins (repeat if necessary)
Insulin/dextrose: 10 units in 25g glucose (50ml at 50%)
Salbutamol neb: 10-20mg
What should be given to a conscious and orientated patient with hypoglycaemia?
15-20g quick acting carbohydrate e.g. 200ml orange juice (can repeat 3x)
What should be given to a conscious but uncooperative patient with hypoglycaemia?
Glucose gel between teeth and gums
What should be given to a unconscious patient with hypoglycaemia?
Glucose IV (10% at 200ml/15mins) Glucagon 1mg IV/IM
What dose of diazepam should be given in severe acute anxiety?
10mg IV/IM
What dose of lorazepam should be given in status epilepticus?
4mg IV (2nd dose after 10-20 mins)
