Doors Flashcards
What type of door is most commonly used for exterior residential applications?
Steel clad insulated door
How are steel clad insulated doors made?
Two sheets of steel with insulating foam sandwiched in the middle. Wood strips are embedded in the foam, between the steel layers, around the outside edges of the door to provide support for hinges and lockers.

When would you use a rabbeted door jamb for an interior door opening?
Rabbeted jambs may be used for interior openings that require a heavy jamb for style or security.
How could painting the exterior side of a steel-insulated door a dark colour cause problems?
If it is in an opening that is in direct sunlight, it should NOT be finished in a dark colour. The heat generated can cause the outside panel to warp and tear away from the insulating foam core.
Rabbeted jambs are the standard for exterior door openings in regards to safety. T or F
