Open defecation (OD)
• It is composed of a sub, mid , and superstructure that
collects excreta or sewage and conveyed in a containment
tank (pit latrine or septic tank)
Basic Sanitation Facility
• Prevention of premature deaths begins with the ability of the local
health system to identify people manifesting high risk factors. Early
identification of risk factors among 20 years old and above population
could lead to responsive/ appropriate preventive measures.

Enhanced case finding (ECF) –

intensified case finding (ICF) –
systematic screening implemented outside health
facilities (i.e. high-risk populations or settings) by bringing the screening
examination/procedures such as chest X-ray to the community. 1,2
Active case finding (ACF) –
– refers to the systematic identification of
presumptive TB in a predetermined target group, using examinations or other
procedures that can be applied rapidly.
Systematic screening for active TB
-refers to any person having:
i) two weeks or longer of any of the following – cough,
unexplained fever, unexplained weight loss, night sweats; or ii)
chest X-ray finding suggestive of TB.
Presumptive Pulmonary Tuberculosis
is caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium
tuberculosis) that most often affect the lungs. Tuberculosis is
curable and preventable.
Tuberculosis (TB)
