What is QDR?
Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). Definition: A study, by the United States Department of Defense, that analyzes strategic objectives and potential military threats. a. good for 20 years, most recent 2014 4+1, Russia, Afghanistan, N. Korea, Iran & separatist states and groups.
What is NMS?
National Military Strategy (NMS). Even years, (next 2018) required by CJCS by title 10 Definition: Prioritizes and focuses the efforts of the Armed Forces to protect U.S. interests; and the relationships among a state’s interests, objectives, and policies in the formulation of a national security strategy, and the integration of the four instruments of national power Reorganization of units, bases, etc.
3 pillars of DoD strategy?
Protect the homeland
- to deter and defeat attacks on the United States
- support civil authorities in mitigating the effects of potential attacks and natural disasters.
