Doctrine 9
We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.
Backsliding (scriptural)
The falling away of the soul from God after having been saved.
Object lesson for not having continued obedient faith…
What happens to water that doesn’t continue to flow? It becomes stagnant. So does the soul unless it is progressively moving forward.
Is backsliding obvious at first?
No. It’s a secret at first, known only to the soul itself; later it becomes open, being seen in the outward life.
Where does backsliding come from?
