Major Depression Risk Factors
Current or previous major depressive episodes
- Women - pregnancy or post pardum
- Significant medical history (diabetes, myocardial infarction, cancer, CVA, chemical dependency)
- Suffering from significant loss - death of a loved one, loss of job or change in social status
- positive family history
Suicide Risk Factors
- Gender - Males = higher completion rate
- Widowed, divorced, living alone
- History of psychiatric illness
- previous suicide attempt
- recent loss - job or loved one
- Unemployed
- sense of hopelessness
- Family history of suicide
Suicidal pt management
- contact counselor, case manager, chaplain

Suicide clinical manifestations
“i dont know how much longer i can take this”
- stoppin therapy w/ continued progress
- stopping other treatment
- thoughts of death, wishing they were dead
Femoral head/neck fx
- Female due to bone quality
- Hormonal irregularities menstrual
- Involvement in running, jumping, marching activities
- Change in training program or routine (new activity or change in footwear)
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Leg length discrepancy
- Diminished muscle strength
- loss of general function and mobility
Femoral Head Clinical manifestations
- pain and local tenderness
- deformity
- edema
- ecchymosis
- loss of general function and mobility
- 30% die within a year

Cervical myelopathy risk factors
Spondylotic changes in C spine
- Age 50s - 60s
- Previous history of neck trauma (MVA/Sports injury)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Cervical myelopathy History
- Impaired hand dexterity (clumsiness)
- Gait/balance difficulties - legs weak/stiff
- Numbness, paresthesia - extremities
- Neck stiffness
- Urinary dysfunction
Cervical Myelopathy physical examination
Hand - intrinsic atrophy
Muscle weakness, often triceps
Muscle weakness of lower extremity
Upper motor neuron signs (hyperactive DTR, clonus, positive babinskis and hoffmans)
AAA Risk factors
Age - older Men History of smoking Hypercholesterol History of coronary heart disease family history of AAA
AAA clinical manifestaions
Usually asymptomatic - can product pain in lumbar region, hip/buttock, groin, abdominal region
- Satiety, weight loss and nausea
- Palpable abdominal mass
