Refer to the Talstar P label: What is the active ingredient?
Bifenthrin
Refer to the Talstar P label: What is the restricted entry interval for agricultural applications?
12 hours
Refer to the Talstar P label: What is the restricted entry interval for non-agricultural applications?
Once the product is dry.
Refer to the Talstar P label: You’re mixing a solution of Talstar P to a concentration of .062%. How many ounces of Talstar will you add to 10 gallons of water to achieve this concentration?
10 ounces of Talstar into 10 gallons. Read the chart!
Refer to the Talstar P label: What is the application rate of Talstar P for armyworms?
.18 - .25 fluid oz per 1,000 sq ft
A pesticide requires 2.5 ounces of the formulation be mixed with water to make a 4-gallon mixture at 2% dilution. How many ounces of this pesticide are needed to mix 2-gallons with a 2% dilution?
1.25 ounces.
You are making half as many gallons so you will use half as many ounces of product. 2.5 ounces divided by 2 = 1.25 ounces.
Refer to the Talstar P label: Is this product harmful is swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin?
Yes. Read the “precautionary statement”
You’re applying an herbacide to a circular roundabout that measures 85 ft across. How many total square feet will you be treating?
Remember:
The radius of a circle is half the diameter.
The formula for the area of a circle is: 3.14 x (radius x radius) = Area
3.14 x (42.5 x 42.5) = 5,671 square feet
You’re applying a five ft band of insecticide around a rectangular home. The home measures 90 ft long by 25 feet wide. How many square feet will you be treating?
(90 ft + 90ft + 25 ft + 25 ft) x 5 feet wide band = 1,150 sq ft
A home sits on a lawn that measures 50 ft by 100 ft. The home is a square that measures 30 ft by 30 ft, sitting in the middle of the lawn. You’re mixing product for a broadcast treatment on the entire lawn. How many square feet will you be treating?
50 x 100 = 5,000 square feet total size of lot
30 x 30 = 900 square feet is the footprint of the house
5,000 - 900 = 4,100 remaining square feet of lawn to be treated
You have a 16 ounce bottle of pesticide that is premixed to a 24% concentration.
If you pour this 16 ounce bottle into a 1 gallon sprayer with water. What is the new concentration of the finished mixture?
Remember: There are 128 fl oz in a gallon
The 16 ounce bottle represents 1/8 the total volume of the 1 gallon sprayer. (128 oz divided by 16 oz = 8)
The new concentration will be 1/8 of the original concentration. 1/8 of 24% is 3%. The new sprayer contains a concentration of 3%.
Refer to Talstar P Label: Is Talstar P a restricted use pesticide?
No. RUPs have the words “RESTRICTED USE” across the top of the label.
