The record that holds the IPV4 address of a domain
A
The record that contains the IPv6 address for a domain (as opposed to A records, which list the IPv4 address)
AAAA
Forwards one domain or subdomain to another domain, does NOT provide an IP address
CNAME, Canonical Name
Directs mail to an email server
MX, mail exchange
Lets an admin store text notes in the record. These records are often used for email security.
TXT
Stores the name server for a DNS entry.
NS
Stores admin information about a domain
SOA, start of authority
Specifies a port for specific services
SRV Service record.
Provides a domain name in reverse-lookup
PTR, pointer
3 DNS TXT records:
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) TXT records list all the servers that are authorized to send email messages from a domain.
DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) records: DKIM works by digitally signing each email using a public-private key pair.
DMARC (Domain Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) records: A DMARC TXT record references the domain’s SPF and DKIM policies.
