DNA: The Blueprint of life. Flashcards
1
Q
What are the differences between purines and pyrimidines?
A
Purines have double carbon-nitrogen ring with four nitrogen atoms.
Adenine and Guanine in both DNA and RNA.
Pyrimidines have single carbon-nitrogen ring with two nitrogen atoms.
Cytosine in both DNA and RNA Uracil only in RNA Thymine only in DNA.

Q
What do you mean by complementary pairing in DNA?
A
Bases pair up with each other in a consistent way, and this process is called complementary base pairing.
Purines always pairs with Pyrimidine.
