Q

Stages of semi-conservative DNA replication

A
  1. DNA helicase breaks apart the 2 parent strands
  2. The DNA strands move apart and act as template strands
  3. Free nucleotides in the nucleoplasm line up with their complimentary base pair
  4. Hydrogen bonds reform
  5. DNA polymerase catalyses the polymerisation of the polynucleotide chain (polydiester bonds)
  6. Two new DNA molecules are formed, each with half of the original parental DNA
