Q

Replication process

A

DNA polymerisation is catalysed by specific enzymes.
DNA polymerase, addition of a deoxyribonucleotide to the 3’ end of a polynuc chain.
Okazaki fragments joined later by a different enzyme.
Lagging strand replication is done in chunks rather than continuously in the leading strand.

Q

T melting

A

Temperature at which DNA denatures, and the strands separate.
DNA with more C and G has a higher T melting as they have 3 H bonds, A and T have 2 H bonds.

Replication fork

A

Replication occurs when the double helix forms a Y-shaped structure.
Spinning out two daughter DNA helices behind.
