Set - Street

A
  • high wall made of polystyrene that has been painted to looks like red brick - this would make it look like a generic wall that can be found in any town or city. May cover wall in graffiti and make it look it damaged to convey ideas about social responsibility by reminding the audience about antisocial behaviour
  • rusty, smashed street lamp to symbolise the breakdown of modern british society
  • project a cyclorama in an upstage position of an urban city but it would look very derelict to show instability
  • stage furniture to give audience impression of play settings so a number of wheelie bins to display an urban area
  • CCTV cameras very visible as at the time, there was many security threats for terrorist groups so stricter surveillance laws were introduced
  • scatter stage with litter and old shopping trollies to hint that social responsibility is an issue in the play.

  • fake trees made of plaster or resin. the trunks may have a rough texture and make them more life-like. Designer could even scatter real leaves across the stage floor
  • fallen tree branch to reflect. society
  • if act three - replace trees form previous scenes with others which are gnarled or twisted into unnatural shapes. This would symbolise Adam’s and Brian’s mental decline and create unsettling atmosphere
  • smoke machine to release a light mist would create an eerie atmosphere and would add to the tension
