  • He proposed the creation of a war cabinet consisting of DLG, Edward Carson and Bon-law.
  • Asquith would remain as PM but not in the war cabinet

What events occurred in Dec 1916

A

3rd- Asquith resigned so the war cabinet could be formed
4th- The Times reveal War cab plans and negative comments about Asquith, this forcing DLG to resign
6th- George V asks DLG to become PM
7th- DLG persuades enough Cons to form Gov forcing Asquith and liberal ministers to resign

A

Viewed as a traitor by the liberal party and they still recognised Asquith as there leader. Did say they would support the gov in conduct of war
