It is the study of the features of the natural environment and their relationship to man’s activities.
Physical Geography
It is the study of the distribution of living things to their natural environment.
Biogeography
It is the study of people, their environment, characteristics, customs, languages, religions, occupations, needs, etc.
Human Geography
It is the field/ subdivision of physical geography which deals with the interpretative description of landforms and bodies of water of the relief features of the Earth’s surface.
Geomorphology
It is the field/subdivision of physical geography which deals with the distribution of the average or general weather conditions (climate) and how they affect the environment.
Climatology
It is the field/ subdivision of physical geography which deals with the distribution of soil and its characteristic association with vegetation, drainage, relief, rocks and climate as well as the significance of soil in the economy and culture of the region. It is also called “Soil Geography”.
Pedogeography
It is the field/ subdivision of biogeography which is concerned with the distribution of plants with their adaptations to, or their restriction by, the environment. It is also called plant geography.
Phytogeography
It is the field/subdivision of biogeography which is concerned with the distribution of animals and with their adaptations to, or their restriction by environment. It is also called “animal geography”.
Zoogeography
It is the field/subdivision of human geography which deals with the location, distribution and intensity of any economic activities as affected by the natural environment as well as the cultural one.
Economic Geography
It is the field/ subdivision of human geography which studies a political unit as a human region, noting its geographical basis and territorial development; its changing internal population distribution, its relative economic wealth from one area to another; its political variety and other social phenomena. It leads to the study of the international relations of nations.
Political Geography
It is the field/subdivision of human geography which deals with the relationship of the geographical condition of the place and the historical event that happened.
Historical Geography
It is the field/ subdivision of human geography which deals with the relationship of the population distribution and their cultural orientation in the different human settlements and the prevailing geographical conditions.
