Late 1890s Alaska-Yukan Gold rush, gold discovered near Alaskan border, thousands joined the rush. Created city’s like Dawson in 1899

Homestead, Pennsylvania 1892, 13 steel workers killed in pitched battle between strikers and strike breakers
What caused the economy to boom during this time period
WW1, huge spending by GB and Allies. Steel and farming boosted. Unemployment fell, industrial relations improved
