director
The individual responsible for putting a work on film and sometimes for the vision and final realization of the entire motion picture.
director of photography
Also cinematographer. The individual in charge of putting the scene on film; hence, the person responsible for the lighting of the set or location; the general composition of the scene; the colors of the images, the choice of cameras, lenses, filters and film stock; the settings of the camera; the set-ups and movements of the camera; and the integration of any special effects. He is also involved in decisions concerning the actual printing of the film.
editor
The person responsible for putting the film together into its final form . . . It is the editor who, by shaping and arranging shots, scenes and sequences, while also modulating and integrating sound, has considerable influence in the development, rhythm, emphasis and final impact of the film.
producer
The personal in charge of all the financial and administrative aspects of a film production, from the very inception of the film project and its initial planning through all stages of production, distribution, and advertising. Sometimes the producer also involves himself in the artistic nature of the film and has a decided influence on the quality of the final product.
screenwriter
The individual responsible, in total or in part, for writing the various stages of a film script. Sometimes one person may write all the stages, but often several people have a part in developing the script.
