Yes there has been a dramatic increase in migrants especially from the EU e.g. workers (economic migrants)

Has put increased pressure on central services e.g. healthcare but has also kept more rural services going e.g. fresh meat industry

Poor (especially near declining cities) and lacked basic sanitary amenities.

In the 1980’s there was efforts to redevelop the area including the demolishing of older terraced flats.

The city was heavily bombed particularly effecting the working class areas with 52% of housing lost and half the population homeless.

What happened to Belfast in the 18th/19th century?
Belfast blossomed as a commercial and industrial centre in the 18th and 19th centuries and became Ireland’s pre-eminent industrial city. Industries thrived, including linen, rope-making, tobacco, heavy engineering and shipbuilding, and at the end of the 19th century.
