Divergent Channel Flashcards
- Strengthen the relationship between internally-externally-paired meridians and zang-fu.
- Distribute Qi and blood to head and face area.
- Divergent meridian integrates areas of the body not supplied or interconnected by the regular meridians. Strengthens the position of Heart.
These are the function for which channel pathway?
Divergent
List the functions for the Divergent pathways
- Strengthen the relationship between internally-externally-paired meridians and zang-fu.
- Distribute Qi and blood to head and face area.
- Divergent meridian integrates areas of the body not supplied or interconnected by the regular meridians. Strengthens the position of Heart.
What is the pathway for the UB Divergent Channel “Foot TaiYang”
- After diverging from the regular meridian in the popliteal fossa, this Divergent meridian travels to a point 5 cun below the sacrum.
- It then detours to the anal region, connects with the Bladder and disperses in the Kidneys.
- From here it follows the spine and disperses in the cardiac region before emerging at the neck where it rejoins the Bladder regular meridian.
Describe the pathway for the Kidney Divergent Channel “Foot ShaoYin”
- After separating from the Primary meridian in the popliteal fossa, this Divergent meridian intersects the Divergent meridian of Bladder on the thigh.
- It then precedes upward, connecting first with the Kidney before crossing the Dai meridian at about the 2nd lumbar vertebra.
- Then, the meridian ascends to the base of the tongue and continues upward, emerging at the nape of neck to converge with the Bladder regular meridian.
What is the pathway for the Stomach Divergent Channel “Foot YangMing”
- After diverging from the regular meridian on thigh, this Divergent meridian enters the abdomen, connects with the Stomach, and then disperses through Spleen.
- From here, it ascends across the Heart and follows the esophagus until it reaches mouth. It then continues upward beside the nose and connects with the eye before rejoining the Stomach regular meridian.
Describe the pathway of the Spleen Divergent Channel “Foot TaiYin”
- After separating from the regular meridian on the thigh, this Divergent meridian converges with the Divergent meridian of the Stomach
- And proceeds upward to the throat, after which it enters the tongue.
What is the pathway of the Gallbladder Divergent Channel “Foot ShoaYang”
- After diverging from the regular meridian on the thigh, this Divergent meridian crosses over and enters the lower abdomen in the pelvic region where it converges with the Divergent meridian of the Liver.
- From here, it crosses between the lower ribs, connects with the Gall bladder and spreads through the Liver before proceeding upward across the Heart and esophagus, dispersing in the face.
- Here it connects with the eye and rejoins the Gall bladder regular meridian at the outer canthus.
Describe the pathway of the Liver Divergent Channel “Foot JueYin”
- This Divergent meridian separates from the regular meridian on the foot and continues upward to the pubic region, where it converges with the Gallbladder regular meridian.
What is the pathway for the Small Intestine Divergent Channel “Hand TaiYang”
- After separating from the regular meridian at the shoulder, this meridian enters the axilla, crosses the Heart, and descends to the abdomen where it connects with the Small intestine.
Describe the pathway for the Heart Divergent Channel “Hand ShaoYin”
- After diverging from the regular meridian in the axillary fossa, this divergent meridian enters the chest and connects with the heart.
- It then ascends across the throat and emerges on the face, joining with the Small intestine meridian at the inner canthus.
What is the pathway for the Large Intestine Divergent Channel “Hand YangMing”
- After separating from the regular meridian on the hand, this divergent meridian continues upward across the arm and shoulder to LI 15.
- Then, travels medially to the spinal column, entering the spine at the nape of the neck. It crosses to the supraclavicular fossa and descends to the thorax, breast, Lung and Large Intestine.
- Another branch ascends from the supraclavicular fossa along the throat and unites with the Large Intestine regular meridian.
Describe the pathway of the Lung Divergent Channel “Hand TaiYin”
- After diverging from the regular meridian at the axilla, this divergent meridian travels anterior to the path of the Heart meridian into the chest, where it connects with the Lung before dispersing in the Large intestine.
- A branch proceeds upward from the Lung, emerging at the collarbone. From here, it ascends to the throat where it converges with the large intestine meridian.
What’s the pathway for the San Jiao Divergent Channel “Hand ShaoYang”
- After separating from the regular meridian on the head and goes to vertex, this divergent meridian descends into the supraclavicular fossa and across the Sanjiao, dispersing in the chest.
Describe the pathway for the Pericardium Divergent Channel “Hand JueYin”
- After separating from the regular meridian at a point three cun below the axilla, this Divergent meridian enters the chest and communicates with the Sanjiao.
- A branch ascends across the throat, emerging behind the ear where it converges with the Sanjiao meridian.
