Q

Lasix

A

Loop of Henle

Inhibits Na-K-Cl pump, thereby causing increased excretion of water, sodium, chloride, magnesium and calcium

Q

Ethacryinic Acid

A

Ascending Loop of Henle and Distal renal tubule
(Not a sulfonamide like furosemide)
Inhibits reabsorption of sodium and water
Interferes with chloride-binding transport system

Risk of worse ototoxicity than lasix

Q

Aldactazide

A

Hydrochlorothiazide + spironolactone

Hydrochlorothiazide
Inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal tubules, causing excretion of sodium, water, potassium and hydrogen ions

Spironolactone
Potassium sparing
Competes for aldosterone for receptor sites in distal renal tubules
Increases excretion of sodium chloride and water, conserves potassium and hydrogen
