- Forms meanders and oxbow lakes near BARNARD CASTLE

- Near YARM, the meanders become much larger and form oxbow lakes
- River Tees has a very large estuary

- Yorkshire, North east coast of England
- Starts at Flamborough head to spurn head
- Fastest eroding coast in the UK (erodes 2m per year)

What have we done to protect the coastline? (At Mappleton)
- In 1992, £2m was spent on groynes and a rock revetment
Successful - Erosion between groynes has halted
Not - Further south, beaches have been narrowed and erosion rates have increased.
