Distance and Displacement & Displacement vs. Time = Velocity Flashcards
What is distance?
It is a measure of motion. The unit is meters (m). It is not concerned with direction.
What is a scalar?
It is a type of measurement that can be expressed with one piece of information.
What is displacement?
It is also a measure of motion, and it is the change of position. It is a vector.
What do vectors need? Using what formula?
Magnitude: trigonometry
Direction: pythagorean theorem
What is the relationship in V=Δp/Δt=m/s
Velocity tells you how fast an object is moving and in which direction.
1) Upward motion means…
2) Downward motion means…
1) positive change in position
2) negative change in position
What does URM mean?
Uniform rectilinear motion meaning velocity is in a constant horizontal line.
V-T graphs have constant horizontal lines.
P-T graphs have straight lines.
