Ketamine
Ketamine is used by medical practitioners and veterinarians as an anesthetic. It’s sometimes used illegally by people to get high.
When it’s sold illegally, ketamine usually comes as a white or off-white powder. It can also be made into pills, or dissolved in a liquid.
Other Names: Special K, K, ket, kitkat, ketters, super k or horse trank.
Methoxetamine
MXE is also a New Psychoactive Substance (NPS). NPSs are a range of drugs designed to mimic existing illicit drugs.
MXE is mostly sold as a white, off-white, beige or yellow powder but can also be found in capsule or liquid form.
It is often labelled as “Not for Human Consumption” to avoid legal restrictions regarding the importation and sale of illicit drugs and NPSs.
Other Names: M-ket, Kmax and Mexxy.
Dextromethorphan
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant found in many over the counter cold medications, either alone or in combination with other drugs such as analgesics, antihistamines or decongestants.
It’s classified as an antitussive, which is a medicine that suppresses coughing. Many antitussives are derived from opioids and can cause similar effects such as drowsiness.
In its pure form, DXM is a white powder. It can also come in the form of cough syrup, gel capsules, lozenges, soft pastilles and pills.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is a colourless gas commonly used for sedation and pain relief.
Dentists and medical professionals use it to sedate patients having minor medical procedures, and it’s also sometimes used to treat people withdrawing from alcohol dependence.
Nitrous oxide is also used by people recreationally to get high.
Nitrous oxide is a colourless gas found in pressurised metal canisters, commonly taken from whipped cream chargers.
Other Names: Laughing gas, nitro, N2O, NOS, nangs, whippet, hippy crack, buzz bomb, balloons.
