Disorders of Venous Circulation Flashcards
Irregular, disted, veins with incompetent valves are called ________.
Varicose veins
Signs/symptoms of varicose veins?
Aching pain in legs
Leg fatigue, heaviness, warmth
Visibly dilated veins
Inadequate venous return over a prolonged period of time?
Venous insufficiency
Signs/symptoms of venous insufficiency?
Same as varicose veins, AND
edema cyanosis venous stasis ulcers d/t poor oxygen necrosis of SQ tissue poor healing
What is Virchow’s triad? (r/t venous thrombosis)
Stasis of blood
Vessel damage
Increased blood coagulability
What is pulse pressure?
The difference between SBP and DBP
(SBP - DBP = pulse pressure)
example: 120/80
120-80 = 40 pulse pressure
What is mean arterial pressure (MAP) ?
Average blood pressure.
MAP = 1 systolic + 2 diastolic divided by 3
example: 120/80
120 + 160 = 280
280/3 = 93 MAP
