Guidelines set by OSHA. Requires the employer an the employee assume all human blood and body fluids are infectious for disease.
Why is the Universal Precautions important for people who are asymptomatic?
People who are asymptomatic show no signs of disease or infection, which puts them at risk for unknowingly becoming sick if a salon isn’t clean.
What is the procedure for when you are exposed to blood or bodily fluid?
Hint: There are nine steps.
- STOP THE SERVICE!
- Put on gloves
- Apply pressure to the wound with a clean gauze
- Clean area with antispect wipe
- Bandage the cut
- Clean and disinfect your implements and work area
- Discard all single use items by double-bagging an placing a biohazard sticker on the bag
- Place in contaminated waste container
- Remove and dispose of gloves
- Wash hands
