Feline leukaemia
A
- only in cats
- Virus
- fatal disease that effects the immune system
- caught by direct contact with the salvia of an infected cat
- signs and symptoms
- recurrent infection. - off colour - high temperature
- severe anaemia. - cancer - breeding issues
No cure prognosis is poor. Would likely be pts

Feline upper respiratory disease
A
- only in cats
- bacterial and viral ( often like a common human cold)
- Signs and symptoms
- sneezing , coughing and sore throat , weepy eyes , snotty nose , sore eyes / clear discomfort from eyes
Lethargy , reduced appetite , mouth ulcers and a fever
- sneezing , coughing and sore throat , weepy eyes , snotty nose , sore eyes / clear discomfort from eyes
- treatment - no cure but medication can be given to ease some of the symptoms
- anti inflammatories for the temp and medications such as mucolytics which helps break down the mucus in the Cats respiratory tract.

Feline panleukopenia
A
- only in cats
- aggressive highly infectious disease - caused by the feline parvovirus-virus
- signs and symptoms
- Vomiting - watery diarrhoea ( blood) - high temp - lack of appetite - lethargy
- Treatment
- no cure - offer fluid therapy and Antibiotics
- VACCINATIONS can be given

Viral haemorrhaging disease
A
- Otherwise known as Rabbit haemorrhaging disease ( RHD)
- A virus that attacks their internal organs ( liver) and cause she’s significant internal bleeding likly leading to death
- Fatal between 12 - 14 days
- Signs and symptoms
- blood around the nose , mouth and or bottom area. - eating less / not at all. - low energy levels
- high temperature - sudden death
Treatment - there is no cure it’s often advised to pts as this is the kindest option.

Myxomatosis
A
- Fatal viral disease
- death can occur 10-14 days after infection occurs
- can be spread by ectoparasites ( fleas , ticks etc.)
- sign and symptoms
- swelling, redness , ulcers and discharge from the eyes and nose and possible the ears.
- blindness due to inflammation - respiratory problems - loss of appetite - lethargy

- Signs and symptoms
- hacking cough. - white phlegm - runny nose and eyes. - sneezing a lot
- Treatment
- general rest / care to help fight infection - anti inflammatories

Canine Distemper
A
- Virus that attacks multiple organs
- E.g. guts , heart , immune system , lungs , brains and nerves
- Signs and Symptoms
- high temperature. - runny ears and eyes - low energy. - loss of appetite - diarrhoea - thicken paw pads. - coughing - tremors / paralysis / seizure
Treatment - No treatment
- general care can be given to make dog comfortable
- puppy vaccinations

Canine Parvovirus
A
- A virus that attacks the intestines causing severe vomiting , diarrhoea and dehydration.
- contagious - spreads in faecal matter
- signs and symptoms
- diarrhoea ( smelly , watery , bloody). - vomiting - reduced appetite - no energy - fever
- Treatment
- No treatment - intensive nursing and fluid therapy

Cainine hepatitis
A
- viral infection
- inflammation of the liver
Signs and symptoms - Decreased appetite , appear depressed , mild fever , cloudiness of the cornea , respiratory signs , discharge from the eyes and nose. And jaundice
- no treatment available
- antibiotics to help prevent secondary infections
- fluid therapy

Para - influenza
A
- Serious respiratory condition
- spreads easily amounts dogs
- signs and symptoms
- coughing ( dry and wet sounding). - may cough up blood - fever. - loss of appetite - discharge from the eyes and nose ( more then normal)
- TREATMENT
- No treatment but medication can be given to ease symptoms such as cough meds ect
- antibiotics may be given to reduce the risk of secondary infections.

Leptospirosis
A
A bacterial disease that causes serious illness by damaging vital organs such as liver and kidneys
Signs and symptoms
- Fever - Jaundice ( yellow gums and eyes) - muscle pain - weakness and collapse - reduced appetite , drinking more than normal
Treatment - must be treated in isolation ( antibiotics & Fluid therapy
