All to wash hands after handling pets.
Do not feed from household crockery.
Store pet food separately.
Sterilise knives and chopping boards.
Wash bedding frequently. 
Treat dog and environment regularly for fleas.
Pick up excreta and dispose of properly.
Wear gloves when gardening.
