Q

Diagnosis of Acute Apical Periodontitis

A
  • easy to make
  • tenderness to percussion
  • tooth is non-vital
  • increase in mobility

Radiographs showing
- loss of clarity of lamina dura
- radiolucent shadow -> indicate old lesion, flare up of apical granuloma
- delay in changes at apex of tooth -> widening of apical periodontal space

Q

Traumatic periodontitis

A
  • due to parafunction, ie: clenching, grinding
