wind evil rising to the vertex and blocking the flow of qi through the network vessels - dispel wind and dissipate evil in network vessels
Wind Disease Pattern
1) Yang pathogenic factor
2) tends to rise and move outward
3) usually invades upper locations of the body
4) nature is opening, moving, changing and transforming
5) no fixed location. often sudden onset
Characteristics of Wind Disease
1) Light and buoyant in nature
2) swift and changeable by nature
3) Blusterous, violent and impetuous
Wind characterized as light and buoyant in nature?
1) affects upper body and exterior
2) head and face (headache, dizziness, red swollen face and eyes)
3) affects lungs (nasal congestion, sore pharynx, cough)
4) exterior (flesh) - aversion to wind, fever & chills, and floating pulse

3) Floating & moderate (weak)

5) Fever (body is fighting, but not as strong) & Chills (chills predominant)
6) Pain and ache not so severe (patient is deficient, so no big battle)
7) Clear or white secretions
3 Patterns for Wind Evil invading Channels.
1) Localized paralysis, deviated eyes and mouth or facial paralysis
2) Rigidity of neck and back, clenched jaw, convulsion of limbs (lockjaw - tetanus)
3) General or localized pain in muscles and joints, numbness and restricted physical movement.
