Q

Are sativa/indica/hybrid edibles made with different concentrates?

A

Negative, they are not - what distinguishes the “sativa” “indica” and “hybrid” effects are additions of terpenes to the edible’s recipe. If not specified-hybrid

9
Q

List different consistencies of concentrate. Make sure to ask the preferred method of consumption.

A

Terp sugar, sauce, shatter, thca, live resin, rosin.
Characteristic differences:
THCA/”diamonds” are high in THC , low in terps
“sauce” will typically be highly concentrated with terpenes but not as potent in THC.
Something more crumbly will be better for a vape pen for example

Q

What is the entourage effect?

A

Refers to the consumption of cannabinoids together as opposed to by themselves. Put simply, it’s the way THC and CBD work together. Separately they can work great, but together they work even better!

Q

True or False? - As long as their drivers’ license is valid (not expired), we can honor an expired med card within 30 days of expiration.

A

FALSE! Absolutely no expired med cards!

17
Q

A patient has never tried edibles before, but is interested in doing so - how do you consult them and advise their experience?

A

2.5-5mg is great to start. There are lots of variables at play, including stomach contents, and no 2 people will be the same in how edibles effect them! Wait 45 mins-2 hours before you consider taking any more. Remember that smoking tolerance =/= edible tolerance.

18
Q

What are the differences/advantages of a tincture vs a standard edible?

A

A tincture is designed to be consumed sublingually, aka under your tongue. “Buccal tissue” absorbs the cannabinoids, and as a result, the effects are activated faster.
Tincture must remain under tongue for at least 30-60 seconds to fully absorb. If you wash your tincture down with some water, it will not absorb thoroughly - and you effectively took the equivalent of a regular edible - since it now has to be absorbed through your digestive system
