Inference
Any additional information used by the hearer to connect what is said to what must be meant.
John hears a smoke alarm next door and smells burnt bacon. John can infer that his neighbour burnt her breakfast.
Logical ordering
A gradual unfolding of the writer’s ideas designed to resonate deeply with the reader.
An author of a romantic novel trying to make you build up a relationship with the characters so that their ultimate fate at the end makes you have an overwhelming sense of emotion.
Formatting
the structured arrangement of spoken or written communication, including elements like paragraphs and headings, to enhance clarity and understanding for the audience.
Consistency
The use of steady language. following the same general tone and terminology ensuring coherence and clarity is achieved.
Quotative
A word or grammatical device that introduces quoted words.
