What were Jesus’ instructions to his disciples?

Why did Jesus choose his disciples?
To change their image They were not special They are ordinary Some were outcasts/sinners (Levi the tax collector) They were humble (fishermen) It showed Jesus' charisma
Why is discipleship significant today?
The service to others
To encourage people to follow Jesus’ teachings
To respect how people react to information
Disciples set an example of a humble Christian today
To take you away from distractions in the 21st century
To prove that anyone can become a follower of Jesus
What was the cost of discipleship?
The sacrifice made by followers Jesus: Money Family and friends Possessions The road a head to face The doubt they could face Obeying orders from a stranger Trust and faith in God

What is significant in Mark 3:31-37?
Jesus and his disciples were preaching to a crowd

What are the problems of being rich?
People could attempt to exploit you
You could be manipulated and not have real friends
You would feel bad for others less fortunate in the world
You would have a different image towards other people and they honk you are a snob or greedy
Since you have money what would you do for the rest of you life?
What are the advantages of being rich?
You could change your life and way of living
Having a lot of money could be used to be donated to charities for support
Money could provide for your family and friends in need
Having a lot of money gives you opportunities to achieve your dreams or travel the world
What happened in the story of the rich man? Mark 10:17-31
A man ran up to Jesus as he was leaving
He asked him how could he receive eternal life
Jesus mentions the Ten Commandments
The man said he had obeyed all the Ten Commandments
Jesus instructed him to get rid of all his possessions and money
The man went away after he heard this
Jesus explained that being rich makes it difficult to enter the Kingdom of God (the eye of the needle)
The disciples will receiver eternal life as they have obeyed the Ten Commandments and gave up everything to follow Jesus
