vulvovaginitis
most common gynaecological problem in pre-pubertal age
low levels of oestrogen between birth and puberty
vaginal mucosa is thin and alkaline so less resistant to bacteria
symptoms: discharge on undergarments, external genitalia is red and inflamed
treatment: reassure, maintain good hygiene, wear cotton undergarment
atrophic vaginitis
blood stained dsicharge
dry, thin, atrophic vaginal mucosa rubs against undergarment and causes bleeding and staining
candidiasis
vulval candidiasis- red and oedematous labium with white spongy areas
treated with clotrimazole pessaries
tx for chronic: 1 week beforee and after mentsturatoin and continued for six months
ectropion
non itchy clear vaginal discharge
common among pill users
columnar epithelium
spread over the transformation zone
TV
frothy, must smell intense itching soreness of vagin cervix has multiple small haemorrhage areas strawberry tongue
tx: metronidazole 400mg twice a day for seven days
