what is a class 1 mass casualty triage?
- red/emergent
- highest priority
- life-threatening injuries but have a high chance of survival once they are stabilized
what is a class 2 mass casualty triage?
- yellow/urgent
- second highest priority
- major injuries that are not yet life threatening
- can wait 45-60 minutes for treatment
what is a class 3 mass causality triage?
- green/non urgent
- minor injuries that are not life threatening
- do not need immediate attention
what is a class 4 mass casualty triage?
- black/expectant
- lowest priority
- patient is not expected to live
- should be allowed to die naturally
what is an internal emergency and what are examples of this?
this occurs within a facility and examples include loss of electric power, loss of potable water, or severe damage in the hospital through fire, weather, explosion, or terrorist attack
what is an external emergency?
affects the facility indirectly
what are examples of external emergency?
- weather
- pandemic
- terrorist acts
- chemical plant explosions
what is a code red?
a code red= fire
what is a code pink?
code pink= newborn abduction
what is a code orange?
code orange= chemical spill
what is a code blue?
code blue= medical emergency
what is a code gray?
code gray=tornado
what is a code black?
code black=bomb threat
