Contralateral-
Contralateral- the opposite side of your body (the left side of your brain controls the opposite side of the body)
Ipsilateral-
Ipsilateral- the same side of your body (your right pinky and index finger are both on the same side of the body)
Distal-
Distal- farthest away from the center of the body (the hand is more distal than the elbow)
Proximal-
Proximal- closest to the center of the body (the elbow is more proximal than the hand)
Median-
Median- towards the center of your body (your belly button)
Lateral-
away from the center of your body (your sides)
Ventral/Anterior-
towards the front
Dorsal/Posterior-
Dorsal/Posterior- towards the back
Rostral-
Rostral- towards the top (your head)
Caudal-
Caudal- towards the bottom or tail (your feet)
Supine-
Supine- lying on your back
Prone-
lying on your face
