what does this do ?
Replaces a direct object, which is a noun that directly receives the action of an verb in a sentence/
Used in place of nominal direct and indirect objects.

second person
te/os (informal you)
third person
lo,la(him/her) los/las (them formal you)
Examples
llamaron a mi mama
los niños leen muchos libros
= la llamaron
=los niños los leen
