Q

Nalaxone dilution?

A

Many practitioners advocate the dilution of naloxone from 0.4 mg/mL to 0.04 mg/mL in non-emergent situations. Then, 40 mcg aliquots of naloxone may be titrated every 5 min until apnea or pronounced hypopnea has resolved. This can help minimize the detrimental side effects of complete opioid reversal and sympathetic stimulation (e.g. pulmonary edema).
