What are mainframe computers?
They are very large computers that can perform many complicated jobs quickly and also be used by a lot of people at the same time
What are microprocessors?
They are devices that control what a computer does, it takes data input, does something with it and produces an output

PC(Personal Computers) What exactly are they?
They include desktops and laptops, they are used mainly in homes and offices and come in many different shapes and sizes
What is the difference between desktops and laptops?
- Desktops are big & laptops are smaller
- Desktops come with an external charger while laptops have a rechargable battery
- Desktops are not portable while laptops are portable devices
What are SBCs?
Single-board computers are small affordable computers used in embedded and physical computing as well as education. One example is the Rasberry Pi Zero which is very cheap
What are mobile phones?
They are handheld devices that use a SIM card to connect to a mobile phone network
What is a SIM and what does it stand for?
Subscriber Identity Module is a card used to identify a subscriber to a mobile phone network
What are specialist phones?
These phones are designed to meet the special needs of users and they have specialist features to accommodate certain users with different abilities. One example includes the alto 2 talking phone which reads aloud every contact number to a person with sight difficulties
What are smartphones?
These phones are small computers with mobile phone connectivity and internet access. They come along with innumerable features such cameras, digital watches, media players and hand-held game consoles, due to these reasons they have an advanced operating system. They come along with a virtual keyboard for users to enter/input data. Smartphones use touchscreens to enter data. They use more power than any other type of devices and thus they have a shorter battery life.
What are Tablets?
Tablets are devices particularly similar to smartphones and the main difference is that it’s bigger in size than smartphones, moreover, tablets may also have sim card slots to allow the users to access its mobile phone network so that they can be online whenever they are not in range of the wi-fi signal.
What are cameras and camcorders?
Cameras were originally designed to take pictures of still objects and camcorders were known to be used for recordings and videos however, with convergence increasing, cameras can now take videos
of moving images and camcorders can also now take pictures of still objects.
What are the factors that affect the quality of an image
The lens: good lens allow the right light to travel through it without introducing any defects, the lens can also be controlled in order to decrease or increase the amount of light travelling through it.
The image processor: a good image processor compensates for poor lighting conditions.
The resolution: the resolution refers to the number of pixels used to display an image on the screen, the higher the numbers of pixels, the better the resolution and the better the quality of the image.
What are some examples of Home Entertainment systems?
TV, PVR, Blu Ray and DVD players, Sound systems.

TVs: Televisions display both moving and still images on a screen, the quality of the image depends on the resolution(number of pixels used). HD televisions display a large number of pixels, often manufacturers only refer to the vertical pixels for example, 1920p x 1080p is widely known as 1080p. UHD(Ultra High Definition) TVs usually display upto 4000 or 8000 pixels commonly known as 4k or 8k televisions.
Sound Systems: sound systems can produce loud, rich sounds using high-quality speakers and amplifiers. Some speakers contain built-in amplifiers. They can be connected to a local network to play music from connected devices, they can also be connected to online storage to play music that is stored online. Sound systems can usually be connected to personal devices such as smartphones, media players and tablet devices using wired connections like USB or wireless connections like Bluetooth.
PVR(Personal Video Recorders(
