What are the parts of the digestive system?

What happens in the mouth?
A
- The teeth grind larger pieces of food into smaller pieces of food.
- The canine teeth rip and tear your food in the mouth.
- The liquid that is released from the salivary glands is called saliva. This moistens the food so it’s easy to swallow.

What happens in the gullet?
A
- The trachea pipe closes.

What happens in the stomach?
A
- Strong hydrochloric acid churns the food in the stomach

What happens in the intestines and anus?
A
- The small molecules of food get absorbed into the blood stream in the small intestine
- The large intestine takes the water out of the food.
